Covid-19 Update From MAC Foundation President Mike Mallahan

Hello MAC family,

I have spent a lot of time recently reflecting on the challenging time we are in, and how to best support our community in a time of so much uncertainty as a result of Covid-19. So many of you have donated to our foundation over the years, and have trusted us to do what is best to meet the needs of our community, whatever those needs may be. As a result, each year we have donated tens of thousands of dollars and essential items like clothes, shoes, food and necessities to local families and non-profit organizations.

When we established the Make a Change Foundation, the board agreed to keep a small portion of our yearly proceeds set aside to be allocated specifically for emergency situations and relief. Some examples of times when we have utilized these funds include the 2014 Oso landslide, when we donated equipment to rescuers searching for victims, and in 2017 during the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, when we assembled and sent emergency kits to Puerto Rico filled with items like water, flashlights, first aid kits, and batteries. Today we find ourselves in an emergency situation unlike anything we've seen before in MAC’s history, where the need of our local and global community is so great.

In response to the Covid-19 crisis, our MAC Foundation board members met recently and agreed to once again utilize a portion of our reserve funds to help our community, by making a series of donations in the amount of $1,000 each to food banks and local charities in our community. Each board member selected an organization that is making a difference in this time of need in their local area.

It is with great honor that I share with you, that we were able to make a small but meaningful donations to the following groups:

I want to personally thank each of you who have helped us over the years. Please know that we are constantly reviewing our budget and incoming donations to maximize our ability to help our community. My hope is to find additional ways our foundation can help as this situation continues to evolve.

As a reminder we are a recognized 501c3 non-profit which has no paid employees. We function entirely with the help of volunteers and board members so that every dollar possible can be used to help our community.

On behalf of the MAC Foundation board, thank you for your help, support, and donations. Please stay safe.

Warm Regards,

Michael Mallahan
President of the Make a Change Foundation
